I have always loved to try new things whether it be different styles or topics. To see how far you can push your present skills and how to improve upon them to continue growing as an artist can both be rewarding and frustrating at times.
I decided to do a pairing since I have never done one before and after choosing one of my favourite animes (One Piece) started to sketch a way. I choose Zoro Rorona (since he is favourite character) and paired him with Robin Niko for I feel that their characters are well compatible together. I will say I hate doing backgrounds since I have always being terrible at it. But avoiding it is not going to solve the problem so I am forcing myself to concentrate more into the backgrounds and lightings of my pictures. Hopefully along the way I can make some improvement. I had wanted to add in a poem into the picture revolving around love and the sea, however my knowledge of poetry is somewhat limited so I turned to my sister
and my good friend
for their advice. They recommended a beautiful poem by Elizabth Barrette Browning called “How do I love thee” and was truly surprised how well it related to the characters.
I learned a lot while working on this picture and I know where I am going to be focusing my attention in my next working pieces. I will add one final thing and this was all done by mouse since my graphic tablet got stolen.
